Museum Volunteer Form

If you have Newaygo County roots or if you just enjoy learning and sharing, come join the Newaygo County Museum Committee of dedicated volunteers. The museum committee, working within the Newaygo County Society of History and Geneology, needs volunteers to help with the reorganization and renovation of the Newaygo County Museum.

Please put a check mark next to the volunteer area(s) that you are interested in, and provide your availability and contact information below.

Museum Committee: Volunteers are needed to help operate the museum. Committee members would meet periodically to discuss museum operations. Currently, committee members are asembling educational display boxes for area schools and historical displays for area libraries.

Building/Maintenance: Volunteers who are "carpentry handy" are needed to assess the museum building's renovation requirements and can make repairs and/or suggestions for improvements.

Collections: Collections volunteers help to identify, catalog and record donations to the museum and to clean and set up displays (both in the museum & for portable display cases). Some knowledge of historical artifacts and computer skills would be helpful.

Docent: Once the museum is reopened, volunteer guides will be needed to learn about Newaygo County's history and give tours for groups of people sharing the information of Newaygo County's rich history. Volunteers will also be needed to staff the museum during open hours.
